Chris Klein (GB/CAN)
Chris Klein ist ein britischer Künstler, der seine Zeit derzeit zwischen Quebec und Ontario in Kanada verbringt. Er stellt im Vereinigten Königreich, in Europa und in Nordamerika aus.
Im Jahr 1983 wurden seine Arbeiten von der Royal Academy of Arts in London, Großbritannien, für ihre prestigeträchtige Sommerausstellung angenommen. Bevor er nach Kanada kam, war er auch assoziiertes Mitglied der Guild of Motoring Artists.
Seine erfolgreichste Serie sind seine Kostümbilder. Hauptsächlich aus dem Theater, aber auch aus Filmen, Museumssammlungen und aus der Welt der Mode.
In jüngster Zeit hat er Bilder aus der königlichen Zeremonien-Sammlung im Kensington Palace in London gemalt, einen Auftrag von Disney für den König der Löwen ausgeführt und wurde von Dame Zandra Rhodes eingeladen, Bilder aus ihrer Modekollektion zu malen. Zandra Rhodes entwarf die berühmten Hemden, die Freddy Mercury und Brian May von Queen trugen. Chris hat das Originalhemd gemalt, in das sich Freddie verliebt hat, und arbeitet derzeit an weiteren Gemälden, darunter einige aus Brian Mays eigener Kollektion.
Neben seiner eigenen Arbeit ist er auch als Bühnenbildner für Film und Theater tätig. 10 Jahre lang war er Leiter der Bühnenbildabteilung des Stratford Festivals und des National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Chris hat an vielen Bühnenbildern gearbeitet, Kulissen und dazugehörige Kunstwerke geschaffen und an großen Produktionen im Londoner West End und am Broadway mitgewirkt. In Kanada hat er für viele große Hollywood-Filme und zahlreiche Shows für den Cirque du Soleil gemalt.

In 1983 Chris had his work accepted by the Royal Academy of Arts in London, UK for their prestigious Summer Exhibition. Before coming to Canada he was also an associate member of the Guild of Motoring Artists.
His most successful series is his Costume paintings. Mainly from theatre, but also from movies, Museum collections, and from the world of fashion.
Recently he has painted from the Royal Ceremonial collection in Kensington Palace in London, produced a commission from Disney for The Lion King, and been invited by Dame Zandra Rhodes to paint from her fashion collection. Zandra designed the famous shirts worn by Freddy Mercury and Brian May from Queen. Chris has painted the original shirt that Freddie fell in love with, and is currently working on more paintings, including some of Brian May's own collection.
As well as producing his own work, he is also a scenic artist for film and theatre. For 10 years he has served as the head of scenic art at both the Stratford Festival and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Chris has worked on many sets, creating backdrops and related artwork and has contributed to major productions in London's West End and Broadway. In Canada, he has painted for many major Hollywood films and many shows for the Cirque du Soleil.
